Have you ever been deceived?

This website is dedicated to improving our ability to spot a religious counterfeit and avoid the scams in life.

Have you ever been fooled by a lie designed to take your money, your time and energy, your soul?  Come on somebody.  Can I get a witness?  How much trouble and pain did it cause?  Wouldn't it be great to be able to detect the lie before it did any damage?

How do they teach people to be able to spot counterfeit currency?  They don't study all the tricks and ways of the counterfeit.  They study the genuine article until they become so familiar with the true currency that any departure is easy to detect.  In any of life's situations, if we are familiar with the truth, a lie will immediately wave a red flag.  If we heed the warning, the sooner the better, we can avoid trouble.

To further explain the reason behind this site, here is a more in-depth look at the rationale from a Biblical perspective.  If we believe that the Bible is God's word and that it is the truth, and if we study this truth so that we become more and more familiar with it, then we will be less and less likely to be taken in by anything false.  Anything that does not line up with what we see in the Word will send up a red flag, and the Spirit of Truth will teach us to heed the warnings so that we don't fall for something that is not in the will of God.  We have to understand that His will is for our good if we love him and are called according to His purpose.  Jesus said, "I am the way, the Truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except by me."  So then, if we know and follow Him, we will avoid falling for lies that ensnare and destroy.  The purpose of collecting these testimonies is to show how being familiar with and following the Truth will keep our path straight.  Have you noticed that a lot of the scams that go after our money are playing on our tendency to be greedy?  The Bible warns us against greed and covetousness, which is idolatry.  This is just one example of how knowing the Truth and following the leading of the Spirit of Christ can keep us from trouble.  We will still have tribulations in this world, but Jesus has overcome the world.  So let us be of good cheer and avoid trouble brought on by our greed, pride, or whatever faults might still need God's loving hand to cleanse us as we repent and ask for forgiveness.  We are not meant to do this on our own.  Let us humble ourselves under His mighty hand.  His mercy is new every morning.

Do you have a story, a testimony of how you may have been deceived, or better yet how you avoided being taken by a scam because you felt something was fishy?  What was it that gave you the warning?  Your story may help someone else avoid some of the dangerous pitfalls we encounter in this fallen world.  If you would be willing to contribute your testimony for this purpose, please submit it here.  It will be edited and posted if it fulfills the stated purpose.
